...but how do you UNINSTALL this piece of software? Selecting "remove program" from the Program Settings menu only removes it from the Launcher =(

Very simple.
Run the latest Launchpad update from your U3 manufacturer. Re: Re: UPDATED: Find My U3 4.2.5.0 - security

Is there a direct link to the latest Sandisk Launchpad update? They only recommend using the "Check for updates" feature which only just tells you you've got the latest version anyway.

For future reference there is a complete list of the latest Vista compatible launchpad URL's for a lot of the manufacturers over at this site
http://www.u3community.com/viewtopic.php?t=986 Within 2 weeks we will have a removal utility up at www.findmyu3.com under the download section. This will remove the application from the CDFS drive for the U3. Re: Re: Re: Re: UPDATED: Find My U3 4.2.5.0 - security

This company is rather shady. I paid for a few years of service. When I ran into a problem and lost the program it no longer worked after I re-downloaded it and the company after numerous months and numerous emails will not respond to me. I would suggest that you not waste your money on this. If they cant help with customer service I doubt they will return a u3 drive.

Kathy.
1. The first emails recieved by Find My U3 from you were yesterday. I have confirmed this through our mail servers logs. 2. At some point in time you have removed your U3 drive in your user pages on our website. That was immediately apparent as the Active field in our database was set to the "Removed" value. There is only one way that happens, you or someone has logged in using your user name and password, clicked to the control panel page and clicked on the Remove Drive button. I have already sent an email to you requesting you login from your U3 drive again, as I have reactived your drive for you. Even though we were under no legal obligation to do so as it states clearly on the website that removing the drive IS FINAL. If you want to start throwing slanderous statements around in public, I would suggest you should at least have the facts correct and proveable. Re: Re: Re: UPDATED: Find My U3 4.2.5.0 - security

The facts were as I stated in my first email sent to you months ago where I said I had a problem with my u3 drive on vista. I bought I new one and tried to tranfer this program to it. When I could not I thought I could unactivate one and activate the other one. this did not work. I immediately sent you people an email stating I had messed up and asked for help. No responce was recieved. I waited for a number of weeks and I tried again No responce was given again. I am not sure how many more times I tried but I finally got annoyed and wrote a comment here and viola I got a responce. I felt if I took it public I might actually get a reply from your company. I do not know why I did not get any previous replies I just know the moment I went public I did get one. Either way the problem has been finally fixed and I thank you.

I should also mention if you truely did not get my emails then I understand your frusteration at this posting. However please understand my frusteration of asking for help for months and getting none. If it was a communication error then neither of us are in the wrong.

Once again.
Get the facts right. The email response you recieved was sent some time before your post in this forum. Your account reactivation was done before your post in this forum. Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: UPDATED: Find My U3 4.2.5.0 - security

Interesting. Here in Canada we tell time a little different then you do then. Because 12:35 am (aka 00:35) comes well before 2:19 pm (aka 14:19) as is indicated by the posts time and the email header time. I really dont care to be honest. I have a problem with your company. I complained it got fixed. its done and over with. However I do hope you realise how petty you look argueing about if you fixed the problem before or after I posted here. To me its an interesting past time to see if you respond. To other costomers..well I guess they get to see how polite and customer friendly your company truely is.

Crap
Thought this was a good idea so I registered with them for 5 dollars. Only to find out that you have to leave your U3 device unlocked to make it work. The FindMyU3 notification only turns up after you have logged in with your password. Does not work on password protected devices. It is simple, we did release the password enabled version after some serious work and over 8 weeks of building and testing.
We were encouraged by the staff at U3 in this development. It was submitted and passed the U3 certification process and released on the download page by them. A couple of month later U3 requested us to remove the password enabled version after a manufacturer claimed it breached the rules because it modified the CD-ROM partition of the drive. If you want it, email me at staff@findmyu3.com and I will send it to you. PS. I have never been employed in a PR role anywhere, I write software for a living and run my own business. Ian.
