You mentioned that 2.0.0.11 is arriving soon, but we are now up to 2.0.0.12, as well as Firefox is getting ready to release version 3.0. Can w expect this for the U3 as well?

Hi all,
does anyone know how to make "FIREFOX FOR U3" to look for the bookmarks in a file other than the default one?
The reason is that I use a central file for keeping all my bookmarks so I always get the same, no matter which user I'm logged on, even from different OS.
(FYI, I get that by editing Firefox file "prefs.js" and replacing the line
user_pref("browser.bookmarks.file", "xxxxx"
where "xxxxx" is the location for my central and unique file for bookmarks).

Hello.

This is really easy.

First, you have to run the Mozilla Firefox build you have your bookmarks (e.g. your PC-installed Mozilla Firefox).

Then, in the Menu Bar go to "Bookmarks" / "Organize Bookmarks...".

Now, in the new window, select "File" / "Export" and save the "bookmarks.html" file in your U3 flash drive (whenever the folder you want).

Now, close your main Mozilla Firefox and open the "Mozilla Firefox for U3" build from the Launchpad.

Once this is running, go to "Bookmarks" / "Organize Bookmarks...".

Now, "File" / "Import" and at the Import Wizard window, select "From File", push the "Next" button and choose the "bookmarks.html" file which you've just saved.

And voilà! :)

Mozilla recently released Firefox 3.0 this last Tuesday.

So, will you please tell us when the Firefox 3.0 for U3 will be released?

I just found out there is an U3 Smart build for Mozilla Firefox, but this is not a build from Mozilla Corporation but from www.u3applications.net.

No, it's not because this build can be updated with no need to download the whole web browser again but the update itself.

The Mozilla Firefox's PortableApps build an the U3 Smart one are not the same thing.

You are using Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.17 on your U3 Smart flash drive, right? Well, you've just applied the latest minor update to Mozilla Firefox 2. Firefox prompted you to migrate from 2.0.0.16 to 3.0.1 because there was a Major Update Transition available.

Now you just have to wait until a new Major Update Transition be available in order to migrate from Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.x to Mozilla Firefox 3.0.x.
