But new version is 2.0.0.4
PortableApps is faster, they launch PortableFirefox in few days and you late and bad... Re: Re: NEW: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3 - web browser

I am not sure why you would say such a thing about version numbers. I downloaded the 2.0.0.3 version and immediately hit the Check for update button. In less than 2 minutes, I was running 2.0.0.4. Way to go whomever did the 2.0.0.3 port for U3. I am so damn happy that I can use the most recent version of the greatest browser on the planet. I does not matter to me who ported it. John, Smon, or Fred. It's still Firefox running on my most treasured U3 smart drive.

I really want to thank all involved in providing the U3 v2.0.x of Firefox. You've restored my confidence in the whole U3 approach and my personal investment in five U3 drives. Support of U3 Firefox v2.0 was a make or break issue for me. Also, I've recommended U3 to so many people dependent on the simple U3 system around the Firefox and Thunderbird apps.
Great job! Please continue support of Firefox and Thunderbird. Re: NEW: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3 - web browser

I'm not sure that the 2.0.0.4 Firefox update supports the U3 packaging. ie When you remove the U3 stick and reinsert it your back at version 2.0.0.3.
The U3 app should have disabled FF's checking for updates. But to it's creator, thank you for updating the U3 app. SanDisk was having trouble supporting it. Re: Re: NEW: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3 - web browser

I was happy to see this update, but I'm afraid to say it isn't working properly - this version won't exit automatically upon eject, and it'll fail the whole U3 removal process - nonsense for me, but bad news for my mother.
In addition, an XPI for the Hebrew language was installed properly, but simply doesn't work! (updated to v2.0.0.4) - weird... Another weirdness is that updating this U3 version to v2.0.0.4 left an entry on my local computer's registry's uninstall branch?!? Another user here commented that he doesn't care who packaged it, "John or Smon", but let me assure you that a package made by John T. Haller of PortableApps.com would never had such strange issues. Nonsense as you may choose to call them, but signs of bad coding/packaging. Re: Re: Re: NEW: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3 - web browser

I have noticed some strange behavior as well. Mainly when switching computers. There are moments when Firefox isn't recognized as running by the Launchpad. This is shown by the missing green arrow on the Launchpad icon.
I have found closing Firefox manually before removing the drive solves the problems seen otherwise. Re: NEW: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3 - web browser

Re: Re: NEW: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3 - web browser
Hello.
If you mean the regular Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.4, yes, it is Windows Vista compatible. If you mean the U3 version, it depends on your U3 Smart flash drive manufacturer. Kingston has already updated their U3 Launchpad to 1.4.0.2, which is compatible with Windows Vista OS. More info at http://u3user.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/u3user.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=193 Cheers! Re: NEW: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3 - web browser

1. goto http://portableapps.com/u3apps/internet/browsers/firefox_for_u3
2. download the u3p file 3. right-click FF 2 on your U3 and uninstall it 4. choose Add Programs >> Install from my computer & choose the u3p file after installation you can safely update to 1.5.0.12 and FF will retain the update between sessions... also, FF 1.5 for U3 behaves well in regard to the "green play icon" :) Re: NEW: Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.3 - web browser
Hello everyone,
I have a new brand Kingston DataTraveler U3 Smart 2GB flash drive and I have used Mozilla Firefox 1.5.0.12 for a little time. Then appeared the 2.0.0.3 version and some days ago it automatically updated to 2.0.0.4. It works amazingly! No problem at all. In fact, not only I have installed some add-ons in the 1.5.0.12 that still work in this new version, but I have installed now dictionaries and they work properly. Nothing to worry about. I also use Opera Web Browser 9.21 from my U3 Smart flash drive and it works all right, but I like most Mozilla Firefox (besides, Opera Web Browser does not update and overwrite the previous version automatically). I run several programs from my U3 Smart flash drive at the same time and never, never Mozilla Firefox blocked out. I'm so damn happy as well to be able using Mozilla Firefox 2 series. I congratulate and clap for all the job that it has taken. I ♥ Mozilla Firefox. Trackbacks
